APPitic: App Lists for Educations - Reviews are by Apple Distinguished Educators and have been tested in different grade levels with a variety of instructional strategies. The database is not organized by content areas, but by critical thinking levels, multiple intelligences, and other learning categories.

Common Sense Media - This database is searchable by age level, genre, device type, content area and educational skills. Reviews provide a learning rating, information for parents, what students will learn, and more.
iPad Apps for School - Richard Byrne, creator of Free Technology for Teachers, provides weekly app reviews with brief descriptions and applications for the classroom. Reviews are searchable by grade levels and tagged keywords. You can even sign-up for an email subscription so the newest reviews come straight to your inbox.
